When asked to redesign a magazine cover, my mind went straight to Food Network due to my fascination with baking shows while growing up. This editorial project involved overhauling the entire magazine's theme, including the nameplate/logo. For my redesign, I chose a unique concept—a dark and moody international holiday food magazine for the winter season. Instead of the typical bright and festive holiday magazines, I aimed for something different. The cover has a cozy and moody ambiance around the featured food, accentuated by a main title in gold for a touch of festivity, complemented by some red elements. I kept the nameplate simple yet similar to the original logo, using an italicized typeface and substituting the red circle with a red ribbon. As part of the assignment, I also created an additional cover with a bright red theme featuring holiday cookies and a layout similar to the first cover. The result was a distinct and captivating magazine cover with a fresh perspective on holiday food publications.
